Many conservatives and Republicans are unable to combat the cultural Marxist Democrat party because they have conceded far too much; they remain trapped inside the padded walls. In order to properly combat the left, we have to diagnose the problem and form an offensive strategy from a sound political alternative to liberalism.
Liberalism is the political doctrine that securing individual freedom and equal rights is the primary purpose of government. When liberal axioms are taken to its logical endpoint, we discover that each individual becomes a demigod in his own personal sphere, freed from the oppressive chains of history, tradition, religion, family, nation, biology and nature. The political doctrine of liberalism was summed up perfectly by Justice Kennedy:
At the heart of liberty is the right to define one's own concept of existence, of meaning, of the universe, and of the mystery of human life.
As a political philosophy, liberalism is a theory of neutrality with regard to the question of the good life in which securing equal freedom is considered the essence of neutrality. In practice, it simply back doors individual autonomy and equality as the good to be pursued for government simply is discriminating authority. In other words, by its very nature government must resolve controvertible issues according to some conception of the good. For example, the government must discriminate between property owner and trespasser according to some conception of property. Government cannot remain neutral anymore than a home plate umpire can remain neutral on balls and strikes (it is the nature of the umpire to call balls and strikes).
The point here is not to argue that today's cultural Marxism is a branch of liberalism, but instead to argue that Republicans and conservatives need to reject liberalism in all its manifestations. The idea that politics can be neutral on matters of morality and theology is a liberal myth, since the very nature of government is to resolve controvertible issues according to some conception of the good. The liberal slight of hand with claims of 'separation of church and state' is to eliminate any Christian conception of the good without argument. The neutrality myth confuses a particular conception of the good —goodness defined as the autonomous ability to self-create and self-define — with neutrality. Conservatives need to understand this and govern according to a traditional Western understanding of virtue, ethics and morality.
Mainstream Republicans and conservatives fail to understand the true nature of government and instead focus on protocols and procedures independent of the subject matter. For example, conservatives talk endlessly about free speech on social media without any mention of the substance of the speech. In reality, absolute free speech is morally evil. All kinds of speech is regulated such is libel, slander, perjury, fraud and obscenity. Any God fearing conservative should also consider blasphemy as the most heinous of speech. The problem with social media and “cancel culture” in general, is not the regulating of speech in the abstract, but the content of the speech being regulated. Social media restricts that which is true and promotes that which is false. Big Tech, the mainstream media and billion dollar corporations “cancel” the virtuous while actively promoting the demonic. Republicans and conservatives need a counter “cancel culture” where we cancel the wicked and promote the True, Good, and Beautiful. Thus, in order for the Right to succeed, we must promote at the very least a soft integralism.
